In planning the first meeting for January (TBA soon!) of the Olentangy Dyslexia Network (ODN), I have had the chance to sit and talk with the district administration about all kinds of things related to dyslexia within the school setting.
One item, the district brought up recently is that they offer dyslexia-specific and Orton-Gillingham (OG) specific trainings throughout the year. I thought this was so interesting so I asked for more information. I figured if I did not know it then others likely did not as well.
Gladly, they were glad to share and sent me the following. So, it looks like while our children have the day off on Monday that the school psychologists will be working on some dyslexia-related professional development. Although the description is brief, it is great to see that there is a plan specific to dyslexic instruction and training.
Looking ahead, this sounds like a great session. Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the district first-hand about their plan to train teachers, intervention specialists and others on OG, etc?
