Oct. 16 Meeting: A Special on ADHD

Our October 16 meeting is all about ADHD and the dyslexia connection!

Area expert Dr. William Benninger will be speaking on understanding ADHD including what is needed for proper diagnosis and treatment.  He will address the reciprocal relationship between ADHD and dyslexia and discuss treatments that may benefit these sometimes overlapping conditions.

He will also discuss the mostly widely used treatment for ADHD and its other common co-existing conditions.

Dr. William Benninger received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in counseling psychology. He is the co-founder of ADDvisor.com, a national educational forum providing free educational teleconferences for parents of children and adults with ADHD. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Ohio State. 

In his private practice he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.  He is on the professional advisory board of Marburn Academy, an ADHD/LD specialty school in Columbus, Ohio.  Dr. Benninger was the first psychologist in the U.S. trained to use Cogmed Working Memory Training, an evidence based intervention which improves Working Memory, and other Executive Function deficits. 

His current research is on the benefits of Cogmed Working Memory Training in children with reading deficits.  He is a certified trainer for The Nurtured Heart Approach, an intervention for children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
