Calling all students with dyslexia & their families: Ever wonder what it is like to navigate dyslexia?

It’s not easy to navigate dyslexia. Hear directly from a panel of parents and children affected by dyslexia. They will take your questions and we’ll hear from experts, too.

This is a great session for adults and students. As always, our meetings are open to parents, children and educators. We invite you to join us.

Our most popular meeting session is back!  Join us for a simulation on “What it is like to have dyslexia.” The simulation takes participants through what it is like to try to read and perform language related tasks with a reading difficulty or dyslexia.

This is a very eye-opening simulation and it can be a very emotional one. This simulation is very helpful, especially for teachers, parents, grandparents, siblings and anyone who may be interested.

As always, our meetings are open to parents and educators. We invite you to join us. In order to be certain that you have a spot that evening, advance signup is highly recommended.

Wondering how to Transition Your Child to their Next Grade or Building Next Year?

Join us as we hear from our experts within Olentangy’s Pupil Services Department. They’ve helped thousands of students transition and can tell us what to expect and ways we can prepare and help things go smoothly.

We’ll address questions such as: What can parents do to help with the transition process? What can parents expect from level to level? What are some skills that parents can help develop in their children as they grow and mature? What should a parent do if they feel the transition is not going well?

In fact, if you have other questions that you would like answered submit them here and we can be at-the-ready to address those!  Also, we encourage you to bring your spouse and anyone who may be interested.

College has changed and so, too, has the workforce. Now, more than ever it is important that students heading to college consider their targeted career choice (and the best path to get there!) so that they can head off the rising costs of college — especially for our dyslexic kids.

Join us for as we hear from and receive tips from local experts Beth Probst and Sheri Broadfoot from At The Core, LLC. They will discuss the college application process, standardized tests, what families can do now to prepare, and how students can learn to focus on their strongest traits as they define their futures. Parents and college-bound students are welcome to attend together.

What happens to your child’s IEP in college & how can your child best prepare? There’s alot to know but we’ve got you covered.

Dr. Matt Sauer, accommodations coordinator with the University of Cincinnati, will talk about what happens to your child’s IEP and how your child needs to prepare.

He will also ask questions from a panel of older students who can answer questions as to what worked best for them.

Join ODN for a special presentation and tour of the local Delaware County Career Center. Learn about how they can work with our special needs children and about their programs that prepare students for both college and a career. We’ll tour the biotech lab and much more.

ODN meetings are open to parents, educators and kids. Since this meeting is also for kids we will include them in the general session and not have a special breakout session for them.

When:      January 20, 6:30 p.m.

Where:     Delaware Area Career Center, 4565 Columbus Pike (US 23); Drive around to the back of the building and enter through the doors there.

Those with dyslexia often have great difficulty with learning a foreign language. So, what are the foreign language requirements all about and what is required to graduate and what do colleges accept or not? And where does ASL fit in and why is it thought of as being helpful to our students with dyslexia?

We’ll cover the foreign language requirements at the very beginning of the meeting and then we’ll get in-depth about ASL. Join us!
